Welcome to Panama Canal

Cruise Ship through the Panama Canal

We bring you in these pages information and recommendations on Panama to make your future visit a memorable one.

Pictures, sites, itineraries, locations and, specially, our Recommended Panama Hotels, have been carefully selected to participate in this site.

Panama has a rich history and culture, from its several Indigenous Cultures to its current fusion of races and traditions from all over the earth.  The ruins of Panama Viejo, founded in 1519, and Casco Viejo, where the city moved after it was sacked by pirates in 1671, have both been declared „Patrimony of Humanity“ by the United Nations.  They are historic and architectural icons of Panama surrounded by a fast paced modern city.

Bathed by two Oceans, Panama offers great possibilities for fishing, diving, or just beach combing.  More than 29% of Panama’s land mass is protected under National Parks.  This of course translates into a heaven for bird watchers nature watchers and Ecotourism. Just imagine that there are over 1,200 Orchid species native to Panama!

For Restaurants, seafood is a ‚must‘: fresh from both oceans; but you will also find in Panama a vast variety of cuisines.  We specially recommend the areas of Marbella, at the heart of the City, Casco Viejo and Fort Amador, at the entrance of the Canal, all peppered with restaurants, bars, discos and clubs.

Shopping is a delight in Panama.  You will find the latest in electronics, fashion and jewelry alongside beautiful arts and crafts, and the best brand names.  Since the US$ is legal currency in Panama, there are no hassles with exchange rates.  For travel needs, please visit our Before You Travel section, on this Panama guide.
